Organised by the group "Concerned Citizens Against Galamsey," the demonstration aims to bring attention to the devastating effects of illegal mining on the country's water bodies, farmlands, and forests.

Scores of Ghanaians gathered at Okponglo, near the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, to march through the streets of Accra to Independence Square, demanding immediate action from the government to halt galamsey activities.

The protest, which began on Thursday, 3rd October, will continue until Saturday, 5th October.
