The government's inaction regarding the rampant illegal mining, or "galamsey,"poses a severe threat to our water resources and, by extension, the health and livelihoods of our people".
In a statement copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra, Mr Kasangbata said recent calls for a state of emergency to combat this menace had largely gone unheeded by those in power, who seem more concerned with political interests than the well-being of Ghanaians.
