NDC government will establish a Women's Development Bank - Prof Opoku-Agyemang

The National Democratic Congress’ running mate for election 2024, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has revealed that the next NDC government will establish a Women’s Development Bank.

According to her, the bank will cater to small-scale businesswomen such as hawkers or anyone who does not depend on huge capital to run their business.

Speaking at her outdooring ceremony, Prof Opoku-Agyemang said “Women entrepreneurs must have access to capital for the entire sector to boost their businesses.

That is why we will actively pursue the establishment of a Women's Development Bank to nurture and grow women-owned, women-led businesses.”

“Women must become millionaires too, through hard work, as the men do.

We need a hand up…I envisage its board, including trading associations and cooperatives, fully represented and making decisions and being accountable to its members,” she stated

Prof Opoku-Agyemang stated that this will go a long way not just to help the women themselves but their families as well ensuring that there is better stability and peace at home.

“All these add up to make a nation, a party, groups and individuals at peace.

Surely, this is what Kwegyir Aggrey must have observed when he made his famous statement about the far-reaching effects of the education of women.”

“And, if you have any doubts about this, remember Esther Ocloo.

She showed the way; let’s revive the dream and hope and actions of our hero and heroine entrepreneurs as models.”

The NDC running mate said that it is disingenuous to preach entrepreneurship, encourage its study and propose its practice but turn around and kill dreams and waste the efforts of successful entrepreneurs.

“We must move to the level of encouragement, appreciation and support of those who participate in the private sector, regardless.
