Accra Ridge Church inducts 2 new ministers into office

The Accra Ridge Church has held a special service to induct into office two new ministers, Rt. Rev. Sampson Kwaku Gyabeng and Rev. Andrew Teye Odjawo as Methodist and Presbyterian ministers respectively.

In the over 80-year history of the Church, this is the first time two new Ministers have been inducted at the same time.

At a well-attended service officiated by Most Rev. Dr. Paul Kwabena Boafo, Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church, he said the two ministers were being inducted into the Pastoral Ministry of the Church to be shepherds of the members.

“You are to hold up the weak, seek the lost, be merciful, minister discipline and build up the broken so that when the Chief Shepherd appears they may receive the never failing love of our Lord Jesus Christ,” he said.

Using Jeremiah 1:1-10 as his text and Jeremiah’s call by God as an example, the man of God reminded the two Ministers that every call of God is for a purpose.

“God has a way of choosing and guiding His flock, His people, His Church and His nations. Moses was called in the burning bush, He called Isaac in a vision, He called Samuel in the night and Ezekiel had a vision and heard the voice of God,” he preached.

He, therefore, advised them to speak only what the Lord has called them to do at Ridge Church and rely on God’s Word to feed the flock.

Turning to the congregation, Most Rev. Dr. Boafo charged them to allow God to use the Ministers since their calling is not an after-thought by God. He said the God who brought them to Ridge Church would also see them through.

Touching on the season of Advent and Christmas, he said even though Christmas today has been over-commercialised, the coming of the Lord is not in material things.

The Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church called on Christians to prepare their hearts to receive the King not only to their hearts but also to their homes throughout the Christmas season

Present at the induction ceremony were Very Rev. Professor Kwabena Asamoah-Gyadu, President of the Trinity Theological Seminary, Legon; Rev. Canon Samuel L. Lamptey, Anglican Minister, Accra Ridge Church; Rev. Patrick Asare Ayensu, Acting Ga Presbytery Chairman and District Minister, Accra New Town as well as Rev. Dr. A. Nana Opare Kwakye, Lecturer, University of Ghana, Legon and Minister-in-charge, Elshaddai Congregation, Adjiriganor.
