Vote for me to take care of you - Alabi to NDC delegates

Vote for me to take care of you - Alabi to NDC delegates

The former Vice Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies, Prof Joshua Alabi has asked delegates of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), to vote for him as an answer to the neglect and the apathy they are suffering.

He has said that he is the one who can provide solutions to the needs of the party grassroots if given the opportunity to lead the party in the 2020 presidential election.

Prof Alabi was speaking to constituency and branch executives in Asuogyaman, Lower Manya, Upper Manya and Yillo Krobo constituencies on the first day of his campaign tour of the Eastern Region.

"I have not come to tell you to give me power. I have come to tell you that you have the power already, so use that power to get solutions to your problems and fortunately, I am the solution.

"You say we didn't take care of you, that is why you didn't work harder in 2016. I am telling you today that if you want a leader who will take care of you, I am here. I have the solutions.

"This is the time to vote for your leader who understands you and has solutions to your problems," he told the delegates on Monday, October 22.

The university professor went on to promise the branch executives that he will build decent party offices for each constituency and do investments on the financial market for all the 275 constituencies, to enable the constituencies have the financial freedom to organise their ward and branch activities without depending on the pockets of donors.

"The era where the Constituency Chairman has to be the one who will dig into his pocket to fund the party activities here is archaic. We cannot continue to charge the constituency executives to use their 'chop monies' to rent chairs or hire PA system for our activities. It is time to have your money in your bank accounts and be able to go to the bank to make withdrawals to pay for party's expenses."

Explaining his policies further, Prof. Alabi promised to roll out a women empowerment policy to assist and fund party women in their businesses, fairly distribute opportunities in government to the constituency level and make the Zongo Caucus Coordinators members of the Hajj Board and the liaison officers between the Zongo communities and the board.

Prof Joshua Alabi further promised to create jobs through governmental interventions in setting up enterprises for the youth to operate, pay back the start-up capital and own the businesses.

This youth in business module, he said, will feature young people seeking to be entrepreneurs and who his government will assist with funding, capital investments and remuneration until the businesses are able to make profits to pay government off and be on their own.

"Many of you see business opportunities. You wish you have the money to go into that business. That business will make you to be financially independent and sound. I know how you feel. I am signing a social contract with you today. You make me your leader and I have your back. Together we will sit down, draw up that business plan and execute it, where the state will be your business partner, and then later you pay back the money invested in the business."

Professor Alabi who is a Russian-trained Industrial Economist, saw this strategy as the surest way to create sustainable jobs whilst producing goods to accelerate the growth of the Ghanaian economy.

"Nobody out there is thinking about you the youth and your need for jobs, as much as I have thought about you and offering my solutions.

"You vote for me as your leader, and God willing, I win 2020, you are assured that your needs will be my priority and I will go by the strategies I have explained to you because they are my ideas."
