Academic City positioned to meet demands of job market - Dr. McBagonluri

The President of the Academic City College is confident the school can produce graduates with appropriate competence to support the country’s aspirations.

Speaking at the matriculation of students at the school, Dr. Fred McBagonluri said: “our fundamental of innovation and entrepreneurship programs available for all our first-year students irrespective of their major, sets a stage for them to develop new insights on innovation.

This, he said, sets the stage for their graduates to become employers themselves.

He explained that the country’s developmental challenges are enormous and the training of university and college students, are an integral part of the evolving journey for the country, Africa and the world at large.

Dr. Fred McBagonluri stated that the course deployment methodology at the school ensures that, theory and practice are addressed in tandem with emphasis on activity-based learning.

“Our first two years will provide a solid foundation and provide students with solid prerequisites upon which later courses can build,” he elaborated.

The president further explained that there has been improvement in technological machinery that is used to facilitate teaching and learning at the school to make the process much easier.

“The computer stock has been improved with more computers. Efforts are being made to enhance the environment itself to make work in the computer-room comfortable,” he stated

He added that the slow pace of internet facility has been noted and effort will be made to improve it.

Dr. Fred McBagonluri said that “the school is developing a dedicated Lab for all our engineering programs and has invested in a world-class engineering workshop.”

He said the school is affiliated to the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) and the University of Cape Coast (UCC).

He said that “Students pursuing Engineering and Business program in their third year would have opportunity for exchange programs as the school is signing a collaborative agreement with University of Dayton, Virginia Military Institute, Virginia Tech.”

Dr. Fred McBagonluri said the collaboration is to fulfill the commitment of the school, to quality education and for its graduates to be competitive on the job market.
