Tech Thursday: Scientist use extracts from rice false smut disease to fight infection

The famous Penicillin used extensively to fight bacterial infection was accidentally discovered from a fungus. Rice False Smut disease can lay waste several hectares of rice fields as much as 75% loss.

But there is a bright side as the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science has successfully used the extracts from this stubborn disease to fight infection.
