MATCH REPORT: 'Frustrated' Asamoah Gyan stuck on the bench as Legon Cities stun Olympics in Accra

Olympics has missed the top spot of the Premier League after they lost 0-2 to homesters Legon Cities on Sunday afternoon.

Coach Bashir Hayford made three changes to the Legon Cities lineup that suffered 2-1 defeat to Berekum Chelsea in Dormaa.

Mathew Anim Cudjoe and Nasiru Moro made way for Shamsu Alhassan and Victorien Adebayor who earned his debut for the Royals.

Winfred Honu was named between the sticks for the Royals ahead of the former Black Stars goalkeeper Fatau Mohammed while former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan was kept at the bench through out the game.

Annor Walker also made one change to his side despite their win against Medeama in Accra last week.

Maxwell Abbey Quaye replaced Joshua Rhule.

Legon Cities began well with early incursions into their opponents area in search for an early goal but debutant Victorien Adebayor sensational free kick was saved by goalkeeper Benjamin Asare in the opening minutes of the game.

The homesters had the lion share of possession however their attackers Victorien Adebayor, Hans Kwofie and Jonah Attuquaye lacked the finesse and cutting edge in front of goal as the first department of the game ended goalless.

In the second half, Nicholas Mensah came in place of Joseph Adjei who had a knock.

Substitute Nicholas Mensah opened the score of the game in the 58th minute for Legon Cities. The Royals had a free kick at their opponents area. The resultant free kick was headed into the box by Justice Anane which met the right foot of Nicholas Mensah.

The homesters increased their tally on the 70th minute through Jonah Attuquaye who caused much trouble for the visitors and was later replaced by Francis Addo.

Legon Cities is now having 22 points after their victory.
