JUST IN: Parliament Passes Anti-LGBTQI bill

A report circulating across social media platforms has it that the parliament of Ghana has passed the promotion of human sexual rights and family values bills, known popularly as the Anti-LGBTQI Bill into law.

Per a report by Accra-based Citi FM, the bill was passed by the parliament of Ghana after it went through various scrutiny.

This comes after the Board Chair of the Ghana Center for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana), Professor Audrey Gadzekpo, called on President Akufo-Addo to reject the Bill.

The bill that has been passed prohibits LGBT activities, making it clear that victims are subjected to a 6-month to 3-year jail term with promoters and sponsors of the act bearing a 3 to 5-year jail term
