Fire the entire goalkeeping staff for choosing Ofori, a 3rd choice keeper in South Africa over Ati Zigi - Sonnie Badu

The equalizer that threw Ghana’s qualification into jeopardy was nothing but a comic and avoidable mistake by goalkeeper Richard Ofori, who for whatever reason, decided to touch a ball that was heading out for a goal kick.

His touch led to a corner kick that was taken with all the energy left in attack for the Mozambiquans and got a late equalizer that many believe they deserve due to the high tempo at which they were pressing Ghanaians throughout the game.

Richard Ofori’s mistake has now forced Sonnie Bdu to question the technical team’s decision to bench Swedish-based goalkeeper Ati Zigi in favour of the former Wa All-Stars man.

He argued that there is no way Richard Ofori should be the one in goal for the Black Stars when Ati Zigi is fit because he believes the latter is much a better shot-stopper than the former.

In a separate post, Sonnie Badu argued that Ati Zigi was the man trusted in goal during the World Cup and plays regularly at his club level in Europe, so there is no sense in benching him for a goalkeeper who is considered a third choice in the South African league.
