Chef Faila Abdul-Razak, the culinary maestro who recently who became a national herione after completing her 227-hour cooking marathon in a bid to secure the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking session by an individual, has come forward to address certain assumptions and set the record straight.

In an interview with Cookie on TV3’s New Day, Chef Faila clarified that she initiated the idea for her cooking challenge as early as June 2023.

Contrary to speculations, she revealed that she applied for her Guinness World Record before Afua Asantewaa commenced her sing-a-thon, which also garnered massive attention both locally and internationally.

In the interview, the Tamale-based chef also shed light on the challenges she faced during the application process, describing it as long and tedious.

Chef Faila emphasized that she invested significant time and effort in preparing and submitting the necessary requirements to the Guinness World Records.

The extensive application process led her to almost lose hope until she received an email notifying her of the approval to proceed with the record-breaking cooking marathon.

Guinness World Records has dropped another official statement about Chef Faila’s cookathon attempt that ended yesterday around 10 am.

This is the second time the awarding body has commented on Chef Faila’s impressive 227-hour cooking journey.

Yesterday, the body made it clear to the general public that it is waiting for evidence from Chef Faila’s team to decide on her fate while reacting to a tweet from Olele Salvador on X formerly Twitter.

Another Ghanaian on Facebook Nana Oppong Nie has also captured the attention of Guinness World Records with a post he made on Facebook.

Nana Oppong Nie was aimed at drawing Guinness World Records’ attention to Chef Faila’s cooking marathon and unprecedented hours of cooking.

In a noteworthy response, Guinness World Records confirmed that Chef Failatu had submitted an application before the attempt and that they are now eagerly awaiting her set of evidence for review.
