Ghanaians against National Cathedral are like Sanballat and Tobias – Akufo Addo

President Akufo-Addo compared National Cathedral detractors to Sanballat and Tobias in Nehemiah, who opposed the Jerusalem wall.

Many people feel the project is a misguided priority, but he stays steadfast.

He stated this on December 18, 2022, during the Ga Presbytery’s centennial commemoration in Accra’s Black Star Square.

“Just like Sanballat and Tobias, in the days of Nehemiah, there are some who do not share my views on the building of the National Cathedral, I respect their right to differ but I am confident (of) my decision, by the vast numbers of enthusiastic supporters of this project whose spiritual dimension is limitless,” Akufo-Addo said.

The National Cathedral project suffered a serious blow when the NDC minority in parliament blocked GHC80 million for the development in the 2023 budget on Tuesday, December 20.
