I won’t protect your ‘legacy’ of corruption and bankrupt economy – Mahama replies Akufo-Addo

Former President and Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has responded to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s comments, urging Ghanaians not to vote for him in the upcoming 2024 general elections.

According to him, President Akufo-Addo’s legacy during his tenure includes corruption, ineptitude, arrogance, misgovernance, and inflicting more hardship on the general populace without making any meaningful impact.

He stated that he will not protect such a negative legacy, which would worsen the woes of Ghanaians, but will instead come up with measures to eradicate them to make the nation a better place to live.

"Of course, I will not protect your 'legacy' of corruption, misgovernance, arrogance, ineptitude, bankrupt economy, increased unemployment, and pushing more of our people into the poverty bracket," he wrote in a post on his X page which was sighted by GhanaWeb.

The former president made these remarks after Akufo-Addo advised Ghanaians not to vote for him in the 2024 elections because a win for him would mean the destruction of his (Akufo-Addo’s) legacy in government.

“The registration has started; I urge all persons yet to register to do so, your vote is your power.
