Dumsor is over and 'will not return' – Akufo-Addo assures in May Day speech

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has assured Ghanaians that the erratic power supply, popularly known as ‘dumsor’, that they face in recent times will soon be a thing of the past.

The president explained that the recent power outages have been resolved following the completion of maintenance work on transformers by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).

Indeed, we have witnessed stable power supply across the country with no load shedding reported anywhere yesterday…I am confident that the unfortunate era of dumsor will not return,” President Akufo-Addo said while delivering his speech at the Workers’ Day observation.

His remarks on dumsor come in the wake of public appeals for the government to either fix the power inconsistencies or issue a schedule for electricity supply.

One prominent voice is that of Dr.

Yaw Baah, the Secretary-General of the Trades Union Congress (TUC), who urged the president to promptly address the erratic power situation.

“It is regrettable that people have to experience dumsor again; please do something about dumsor now,” Dr.
