Meet the Chief of Staff's daughter who is a top banking executive and member of ECG Board

In the past week, social media users on X have descended of the Electricity Company of Ghana for a number of reasons.

The first being the persistent power outages across the country, as well as details of an audit conducted by the PwC which indicated huge technical and financial losses made by the power distribution company.

This social media outrage then resulted in some users digging to find some more details about the power distribution company and to their surprise, a familiar name emerged on its Governing Board.

Further checks showed that Mataa Opare is currently serving as Group Head of Legal and Company Secretary at Fidelity Bank Limited in Accra.

She is also a solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales and has been called to the Bar in Ghana.

At the ECG, she was sworn-in as part of a nine-member governing board of the power distribution company in July 2021.

She also serves as Patron of the ECG Power Queens as well as Trustee of the Head of State Awards Ghana under the Duke of Edinburgh scheme.
