Senior Minister, Yaw Osafo-Maafo has given the hint that the final decision to ease the restrictions on movement would be taken on Friday.

Speaking to journalists at the Information Ministry the Senior Minister said the government has engaged all identifiable groups like the chiefs and the churches.

“On Friday, we’ll put all of this together and on best advice available we will make the various decisions. Don’t forget that, in New York today, they are reducing the restrictions, Germany is reducing the restrictions, France is reducing the restrictions, even in the US, they are reducing the restrictions, which means that we must find a way of restoring the economic life in one way or the other, bearing in mind the need to ensure the safety of our citizens,” he said.

Ghana’s current case count of coronavirus is 6,964 with 2,097 recoveries.

The Greater Accra recorded 72 new cases whereas the Western, Central, Ashanti and Volta Regions recorded 57, 13, 10 and 4 cases respectively.

Meanwhile, the Western Region is becoming a hotspot for the coronavirus, he added.

About 800 people he said are in isolation across the country and more than half that are at the Pentecost isolation centre with the rest in hotels and other isolation centres across the country.
