Minority Leader supports fight against coronavirus

Haruna Iddrisu, Minority Leader and Member of Parliament for Tamale South Constituency, has distributed various items to institutions and groups in his constituency to help promote hygienic lifestyles as part of efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the country.

The items included; 200 Veronica Buckets and supporting metal stands, 1,500 large packs of tissue paper, quantities of liquid soap, 200 tissue paper collection bins and 3,000 bottles of hand sanitisers.

The beneficiaries included; chief palaces, CHPS Compounds, meat shops amongst other identifiable groups in the constituency.

The Tamale South Constituency Executives of the NDC, on Friday presented the items to the beneficiaries, including; the Chief Palaces at Kukuo, and Bulpela, Kukuo Meat Shop, Bulpela Health Centre, and some identifiable groups at Nyohini amongst others.

Mr Abdul Ganiyu Sandow, Communication Officer of the NDC in the Tamale South Constituency, who spoke on behalf of the Minority Leader in Parliament after presenting the items to some of the beneficiaries, said he had championed sanitation issues and hygiene in the area, hence, the gesture.

Mr Sandow said a team from the constituency office was going round the area to educate the people on the COVID-19 to prevent the spread of the disease and urged the constituents to adhere to all the precautionary measures outlined by health authorities to suppress the disease.

Madam Salima Salami, Physician Assistant in-charge of the Bilpela Sub-district Health Directorate in the Tamale Metropolis, who received the items on behalf of the Bilpela Health Centre, expressed gratitude to the Minority Leader for supporting the facility with the items, saying the gift would enhance their work.

She urged other members of society and organisations to emulate the gesture of the Minority Leader and support the facility to resource it to effectively discharge its duties to the public.
