Rachel Appoh gets GOWA award for charity works

Former Deputy Gender, Children and Social Protection Rachel Appoh has been recognized for her charitable works with a humanitarian award at the 2019 edition of the Ghana Outstanding Women’s Award.

The former Gomoa Central MP has embarked on various humanitarian projects in her constituency, donating items to widows and physically challenged women.

Rachel Appoh has also organized training programs and events aimed at empowering women and equipping them with skills.

Speaking after receiving her award, Rachel Appoh urged Ghanaians to show compassion and support to the needy and also challenged women to believe in themselves.

“In this world, you don’t have get money before you touch lives. In your own small way you can still touch lives and make positive changes in people’s lives. Off late people don’t want to serve but serving is very important. You serve for your own benefit”.

“People should have confident in themselves and believe in what they do. People will talk, criticize you and humiliate you but if you believe in yourself and what you do, one day God will recognize you”, she said.

The second edition of the GOWA awards saw performances from Joyce Blessing, Klala, Lamisi, Araya Afrika, among others.

Barbara Asher Ayisi, Member of Parliament for Cape Coast North constituency was adjudged Outstanding Woman in Politics.

The GOWA scheme seeks to recognize and honour women who are devoted to the welfare of humanity and contributing to the social change especially in women empowerment.
