Sandema SHTS Riots: Remains of deceased sent to TTH for autopsy

The mortal remains of 17-year old Alhassan Nashiru who allegedly suffered wounds in the chest from a stray bullet and subsequently passed away was today transported to the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) to undergo autopsy.

This, according to authorities, is to enable them establish the cause of death of the form one student of the school who died at the Sandema District Hospital shortly after he was admitted in the facility following a student - police clash at the school Tuesday.

Another student who became unconscious after the incident and was also admitted at the Sandema District Hospital has been treated and discharged.

Two persons - a family member of the deceased and a teacher representing the school, and some crime officers are said to have gone with the body to the Tamale Teaching Hospital.

Meanwhile, preparations for the burial of the late Alhassan Nashiru have commenced at his family house in Paga in the Kasena-Nankana West District.

Our Correspondent, Senyalah Castro, who has visited the family reports that sympathizers, from far and near, have gathered at the family house to commiserate with the family and to witness his Islamic burial.

He further reports that family of the deceased have expressed their displeasure in their inability to have access to the body of the deceased for interment in line with Islamic Traditions.
