Think outside the box – Chief of Staff fires ‘lazy’ Hospital CEOs

Chief of Staff, Hon. Akosua Frema Osei-Opare has fired at Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of teaching hospitals in the country urging them to step efforts aimed at providing prudent and innovative ways than do sit in their comfort expecting government to do everything for the facilities they preside over.

“I wish to use this opportunity to urge other health agencies and units to think outside the box in our drive to improve the quality of healthcare services”, she urged while commending the Board and management of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) for its judicious use of Internally Generated Fund to procure 5.4m Oxygen Plant.

The government has endorsed the prudent and innovative moves by KATH’s Board and management to procure ultramodern plants worth Five Million, four hundred thousand cedis (GH¢5.4 million) through its Internally Generated Funds (IGF).

The Chief of Staff explained, it will afford the hospital opportunity to now meet all its oxygen needs of about 95 per cent purity from in-house production and even capable of bottling and selling oxygen to other health facilities in the country.

At an inaugural ceremony held in Kumasi, Hon. Akosua Frema Osei-Opare disclosed that the cost is expected to be repaid over a period of three years from under the financing module used in procuring the two plants.

To this end, she assured the government’s commitment to improve quality healthcare delivery across the country.

“The government would continue to support such progressive -minded state institutions to enable them improve the quality of service delivery to the public”.
