OFFICIAL: Ghanaian defender Harrison Afful signs contract extension with MLS side Charlotte FC

Former Ghana international Harrison Afful has committed his future with MLS side Charlotte FC after signing a new contract.

The Major League Soccer outfit, Charlotte Football Club having being impressed with the output of Ghana defender Afful has awarded him with a new contract through 2023 with an option for 2024.

Afful has also being augmented to serve in player professional development as a scout as he sees his days with the outfit.

The right-back who joined Charlotte FC as a free agent is heading into his ninth season in Major League Soccer and has made over 200 league appearances in all competitions.

His versatility and leadership are incredibly valuable, and we’re looking forward to seeing him on the pitch once again in 2023,” said Sporting Director Zoran Krneta.

“We are thrilled he will be spending his time off the pitch with Thomas, Lisandro, and our excellent scouting department to set the foundations of what is sure to be an excellent career off the pitch once his playing days are done.”

Charlotte FC will begin pre-season preparations for the 2023 Major League Soccer season next week.
