PSG and Inter Milan 'join race to sign Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum'

Liverpool's hopes of holding onto Georginio Wijnaldum have been thrown into further doubt as Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan have reported their interest in the midfielder.

The Dutchman has become an instrumental part of Jurgen Klopp's side since his arrival at Anfield in 2016. However, his future at the club remains uncertain as his contract is due to expire in June.

Liverpool had to fend off interest from Barcelona last summer and will now face stiff competition from both PSG and Inter as they look to agree new terms with the 30-year-old.

According to French outlet Le Parisien, PSG are said to be interested in signing Wijnaldum a free transfer at the end of the season.

While FC Inter News have said that the Serie A giants are 'monitoring Wijnaldum's situation' at Liverpool.

Liverpool are eager to hold onto Wijnaldum – who has started 23 times in the Premier League.

However, despite several discussions, the club have failed to agree terms with the player over a new contract.

Speaking about the negotiations to Sky Sports last month, Wijnaldum said: 'There is no update yet. I also think I'm not the one who should give the update.

'The club should do that. So if there is an update, the club will give it.'

Wijnaldum would be a huge loss for Liverpool after he helped the club win the Champions League and Premier League in the past two seasons.

Manager Jurgen Klopp gave little away when asked about the Wijnaldum situation in January.

'I have nothing to say about this. I've said how much I like the person and the player. So, there's really nothing else to say about it,' he said.

'That's not good or bad news, that's just how it is. If there's a decision you'll know about it. Apart from that, there's nothing else to say.'
