Police must broaden scope of probe into Ahmed's murder - Ken Attafuah

Criminologist, Professor Ken Attafuah, has urged the Police to broaden the scope of their investigations into the murder of investigative journalist, Ahmed Hussein-Suale.

Ahmed Hussein-Suale was shot dead in his car at Madina by unknown persons on Wednesday evening.

Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong is once again in the public eye in the wake of the killing because he in July 2018, he circulated photos of Ahmed, and called on persons in Madina to beat up the investigator if he visited his company premises.

As a result, Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ Tiger Eye PI has sought to link Mr. Agyapong to the murder.

But speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show, Professor Ken Attafuah emphasized the need for the police to broaden their investigations by questioning persons who have been directly or indirectly affected by the work of the deceased.

“There is no reason why the Police cannot look at the judges, cannot look at the people affected, cannot look at the people who are affected in the Osu Children’s Home.

“There are multiple investigations that Anas has done and there are many people whose lives have been impacted and there is no reason to exclude the possibility that even relatives, even friends of some of those people who have been adversely affected would want to punish this guy in such an extreme and horrific manner.”

Investigations underway

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) says it has commenced investigations into Ahmed’s murder.

He was reportedly killed by two gunmen on a motorbike who shot into the car he was driving.

It is believed Ahmed was shot three times; twice in the chest and once in the neck.

The criticism in the wake of the murder forced Kennedy Agyapong to insist that he has nothing to do with the journalist’s death.

“This is what I said. This boy is not relevant to my life. This boy is irrelevant to my life. Why would I be stupid and order people to kill him looking at how far God has brought me? He has not offended me in any way. They should look for those who may be behind this heinous act. This is just cheap propaganda.”
