Ghanaians must learn from Menzgold crisis- CCC Pastor

Head Pastor of the Calvary Charismatic Center (CCC), Pastor Ransford Obeng has said Ghanaians must learn lessons from current struggles of gold dealership firm, Menzgold and be more cautious when investing their funds into any venture.

According to him, any business entity that offers interest rates above the normal Treasury Bill rates is a scam and must not be accepted.

He said opting to invest in Treasury Bills will not only benefit the investor personally but also the nation as a whole.

A number of Ghanaians have had their Investments locked with the Gold dealership firm while an arrest warrant has been issued for the arrest of its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Nana Appiah Mensah.

Speaking at a press conference to announce the 2019 edition of the three-day Spiritual Empowerment Programme in Kumasi, Pastor Obeng encouraged Ghanaians to invest in treasury bills instead of ventures that can lead to the loss of their investments.

“The advice I want to give to everybody is that the best way to save is the Treasury Bills. With the Treasury bill, it belongs to the Government and it will never fail. Whether NDC or NPP is in power, you will always get your money. So I want to encourage all Ghanaians that if you want to save, go for the Treasury bill. It will help even Ghana as a whole. The Government will get more money to do more projects for us.

“So I am encouraging everybody, don’t put the money in your house where somebody can come and steal it. Just invest in Treasury bills because it is the best interest you can get. Anybody that promises more than 15% interest rate, there is a risk involved so don’t do it,” he advised.

He said religious leaders could have played a role by advising members of their congregation not to invest in the venture.

The Calvary Charismatic Center (CCC) will host the General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), Dr Mensa Otabil for a three-day Spiritual Empowerment program at Ayigya in Kumasi.

Pastor Obeng said Dr Otabil remains the best choice for the annual event because he continuous to inspire and impact the lives of Ghanaians positively with his messages.

He added that Dr Otabil is also best placed to deliver the messages because he has gone through tough times and will use his lessons to inspire participants.

“As we start a new year, everyone needs to a sure word to go through the challenges that will come their way and we could ask for no better person as a church to inspire us than Dr Mensa Otabil.

“He’s a man of God who has gone through tough times in life and is now better placed to advice, encourages and motivate all of us to persevere when those moments come”, he explained

The program which starts from Friday 18th January will climax with a service on Sunday 20th January 2019 at CCC behind the Tech Police station at Ayigya in Kumasi.
