Citi FM/TV’s Daniel Anyorigya selected for MCBIRD 2021 Fellowship

Citi FM/TV journalist and Wikimedian, Daniel Abugre Anyorigya, has been selected for the 2021 Media Capacity Building Initiative for Reporting on Disability (MCBIRD) Fellowship.

He joins the first cohort of the program scheduled for 2nd and 3rd December 2021.

The two-day fellowship will host 26 fellows across Ghana, at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA). They will be provided with professional development, guidance, and resource platforms for effective reporting on disability.

Mr Anyorigya’s work on Persons with Living with Albinism earned him a selection to the fellowship, which will be certified by the National Center for Disability Journalism, based on the campus of Arizona State University, USA and BlueCrest University College.

Mr Anyorigya said: “My interest in climate change and human rights pushes me to tell stories and provide support to persons with disabilities. Recently, my team and I developed a Wikipedia program titled ‘Wiki4Inclusion’ which trained some Persons with Hearing Impairment on contributing to Wikipedia articles. This makes the world a better place in creating an all-inclusive growth while achieving the SGDs”.

MCBIRD is a partnership initiative led by YALI TV with support from the US Embassy in Ghana, the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) and the National Centre for Disability Journalism.

Among the participants are Portia Sonia Gabor, Media General Group; Prosper Kuorsoh, Ghana News Agency; Eric Kombat, Daily Guide; Ibrahim Angaagmeni Alhassan, Radio Tamale; Nukunu Akusika Deku, Facebook; Thelma N.A. Abbey, the Finder and others.
