Stay away from drugs and the beaches- TTU VC to students

The Vice-Chancellor of the Takoradi Technical University Prof. John Eshun has warned the over 4,000 fresh students admitted in the 2018/2019 academic year to stay away from the beaches in the region as well as abuse of drugs such as tramadol.

According to him, records available to the university, show that the beaches are a threat to student ives.

Speaking to the 4,190 students, made up of 2743 males and 1396 females at their matriculation ceremony, Prof Eshun said “some of you are seeing the sea for the first time. Please stay away from the sea. Do not go to the beach to swim to endanger your life. We have students been taken away by the sea. They go there for entertainment; some swim while they are on alcohol. This gets them to be taken away easily. This year, we do not want to record that unfortunate situation in this university.”

Prof. Eshun continued that “the university has maintained and continues to maintain a zero tolerance for all forms of anti-social behaviours such as exams malpractice, occultism, alcoholism, hooliganism, prostitution and recently, the intake of tramadol. You are therefore advised to keep to the matriculation oath and stay away from any such vices that will constitute a threat to the peace of the university since TTU has over the years enjoyed relative peace.”

In the era of hooliganism and other social vices, Prof. Eshun also admonished students to use the appropriate communication channels to have their problems resolved by the university.

“I do not expect students of this university to do anything that will put the high-earned reputation of TTU in jeopardy. Therefore, in the event of any development that threatens your happiness and continuous stay on campus, do not hesitate to use the channels of communication available to you. Management is also ready to listen to your grievances at any time should the channels of communication fail. Avoid using anonymous letters as a means to have your concerns addressed. My doors are always opened to you through your SRC leadership and the Dean of Students of Affairs.”
