76 Upper East Region residents get free plastic surgery

The Foundation for Reconstructive Surgery (RESTORE) has successfully completed free plastic surgery for 76 patients in Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region.

Out of the 113 cases evaluated, 91 were selected for the surgery, but 76 were successfully executed.

Most of the cases were burns, tumors, hypertrophic mess cracks contractions, joints deformities contractions, conjugal deformities, and multiple fingers and toes.

Speaking to Citi News in Bolgatanga, after a four-day surgery, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of RESTORE based in Beverly Hills in the USA, Dr. Michael Obeng, said, he was motivated to give back to society particularly to the less privileged.

Dr Obeng stated that the rest who were not operated on had minor cases.

The plastic reconstructive team comprised ten medical personnel from the US and Germany with support from nurses at the Bolgatanga regional hospital.

Dr. Obeng appealed to the government to address the infrastructure and equipment’s challenges of the Bolgatanga regional hospital to serve its purpose.

Some beneficiaries of the reconstructive plastic surgery told Citinews about their delight to have their deformities restored.

International Relations Director of RESTORE, Dawn Sutherland was impressed with the support they had from the regional hospital and hinted that doctors of the hospital would be trained on plastic surgery by their team upon the next visit.

This she said, will enable the doctors to serve persons with plastic reconstructive cases better.
