Bongo District Assembly presents over 500 desks to deprived schools

Peter Ayamga Ayinbisi, Bongo District Chief Executive, has provided 508 pieces of dual desks to primary schools in critical need of furniture in the area.

He said the provision of the pieces of furniture from the District Development Facility (DDF) to the beneficiary schools, formed part of the government’s efforts towards eliminating the situation where pupils sit on the bare floor to study.

Mr. Ayinbisa made the presentation to the Bongo Ghana education service directorate at Bongo after a visit to some basic schools to welcome pupils to a new academic year on ‘my first day in school.’

He admonished the directorate to distribute the furniture equitably.

He also impressed on the beneficiary schools to maintain the furniture to prolong its usage.

Mr. Ayinbisa also cut sod for the construction of a two-classroom Kindergarten block at Ayopia at the cost of GHC215,512.00, and it is expected to be completed in 6 months.

He also said the expansion of the Namoo health centre and construction of two ultra-modern slaughter houses will begin next week with funding from DDF.

Mr. Ayinbisa said his outfit will soon construct a befitting mortuary at the Bongo district hospital.

He added that 64 acres of land had been released for the relocation of the Bongo district hospital.

The Bongo District Director of Education, Madison Amokase, remarked that the furniture is to help address the lack of furniture in some primary schools to enhance effective teaching and learning.

He pledged to use part of the capitation grant to maintain the furniture.
