Appoint Rasheed Konlaabig as Sammy Awuku's deputy - NPP regional organisers

Regional organisers for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) want the party’s National Council to name Rasheed Konlaabig, as their new Deputy National Organiser.

To them, Rasheed, who is the party’s Brong Ahafo Regional Organizer “is the most qualified person to assist Sammi Awuku [NPP National Organiser],” at the national level.

“As a 2-term Regional Organiser of our party, Rasheed has done it all. In all he does, Rasheed exemplifies hardwork, honesty, fairness, and thoughtfulness. We believe Rasheed will use those qualities to create a better balance between party and government activities towards election 2020,” the regional organisers said in a joint statement sighted by citinewsroom.com.

The National Council of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will today, Wednesday, meet to confirm the appointments of Deputy National Officers.

The Deputy National Officers are expected to assist national officers in the discharge of their duties.

Information reaching Citi News however indicates that Nana Obiri Boahen, who was recently allegedly caught on tape making some allegations against the Presidency, and subsequently reprimanded by the party, will be maintained as one of two deputies to the General Secretary.

The NPP regional organisers insist that Rasheed has a great deal of experience dealing with polling stations, electoral areas and constituencies in the Brong Ahafo Region, and the northern sector of Ghana, making him the right person for the job.

“Over the last six years, Sammi Awuku has created a challenging force within the NPP and the country, and we commit to protecting that score because we’re going to continue supporting him and the party. But to let this happen, he needs a second-in-command who understands camaraderie, grassroots participation and mobilisation,” the NPP organisers added in the statement.

Konlaabig Rasheed is currently the NPP’s Brong Ahafo Regional Youth Organizer after he contested unopposed.
