CAF Confederation Cup: Aduana Stars lose to AS Vita in Congo

CAF Confederation Cup: Aduana Stars lose to AS Vita in Congo
Aduana Stars’ hopes of making the next round of the Caf Confederation Cup suffered a setback on Sunday following a 2-0 away defeat to Congolese side AS Vita Club.

A goal in either half condemned the Fire Boys to their second defeat of the group stage.

Jean-Marc Makusu scored both goals in the matchday four fixture at Stade des Martyrs in Kinshasa.

Aduana coach Kenichi Yatsuhashi largely stuck with the side that claimed a 2-1 win in the first leg, with the pair of veteran striker Yahaya Mohammed and Bright Adjei, who both netted the Fire Boys’ goals in the home fixture, leading the lines.

Jean-Florent Ibenge of Vita, on the other hand, relied on the likes of Ducapel Moloko, Ngonda Muzinga, captain Munganga Omba and the dangerous Makusu to deliver three points for the second time in Group A.

Makusu, indeed, did not disappoint as he put the home side in front in the 14th minute.

The unmarked forward rose high to head home the opener as Aduana’s defence momentarily looked confused.

The Black Dolphins continued to dominate possession, and after failing to add to their tally before the break, it was not surprising that they found the back of the net again in the second half.

Makusu, once more, was the hero as he rounded goalkeeper Joseph Addo to plant the ball in the net.

The result leaves Aduana third on on the Group A table after Raja Casablanca beat ASEC Mimosas 4-0 also on Sunday.
