Hearts of Oak to train at Pobiman on July 30

Hearts of Oak to train at Pobiman on July 30

Accra Hearts of Oak will hold a training session for the first time at its Pobiman base on Monday July 30.

The club made this announcement via Twitter on July 26.

The team’s Pobiman base has been on the cards for many years but setting it up stalled because of a lack of finance and other challenges.

Fans of the team had lamented for years over the absence of the team’s own training base especially as the team trained at several venues in Accra such as the pitch close to the Arts Centre, El-Wak Stadium and until the decision to move to Pobiman, the University of Ghana Ajax Park.

The move to Pobiman will be seen by many as a major achievement for the team and for new CEO, Mark Noonan.

On April 2, he tweeted that the project would happen and that, agreements had been signed to the effect. On April 19, he visited the site with architects.

According to the club, one training pitch has been put together so far and the number of pitches will increase when the project is fully completed. The facility is expected to also have staff quarters, a gym, swimming pools and other elements.

The club thanked the authorities of the University of Ghana for their support and kindness in allowing the team to use the Ajax Park for its training in the last few seasons.
