Ghana Water Company cuts water supply to parts of Accra

Some parts of the capital, Accra are to experience water cuts, the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) has announced.

In a statement, GWCL mentioned that areas including Dansoman, Korle-bu Hospital, Tesano, Mallam and other surrounding communities will be hit by the interruption.

This is a result of what the company says is part of steps to carry out repair works on its burst transmission pipeline which has affected the flow of water to these areas.

“Management of Ghana Water Company Limited wishes to inform the general public, especially, its valued customers in the Western part of Accra, that as a result of a burst on the 36 inch transmission pipe-line on the main Mallam Gbawe road, water supply has been interrupted to enable repair works to be undertaken by GWCL Engineers,” the statement indicated.

Affected areas

Sakaman, Odorkor, Agege, Mamprobi, Chorkor, Korle-Gonno, Latebiokorshie, Mataheko, Russia and Sukura are some of the listed areas.

The other communities include Abbosey Okai, Kaneshie, Palladium, James Town, Sraha, Abeka, Gbawe, Ablekuma and surrounding areas.

Whilst pleading with the public to bear with the development, the company said it is committed to fixing the challenge within the shortest possible to bring relief to residents.

“Management of the Ghana Water Company Limited wishes to assure its consumers that the company’s Engineers are working around the clock to complete the repair works so as to restore supply. Any inconvenience caused by the sudden interruption is deeply regretted”, the release added.
