Produce proof of butchered soldier - Armed Forces to The Chronicle

The Ghana Armed Forces has refuted reports of the murder of one of its personnel at Sekondi-Takoradi.

“Our checks from all our units within 2 Garrisons indicated no such incident has taken place. Checks with local hospitals and the Military Hospital have also yielded no such record,” the Ghana Armed Forces said in a statement.

The Chronicle Newspaper reported on May 24, 2019,  that the soldier had been “butchered, but the Armed Forces urged the public to disregard the story.

“It is reiterated that no soldier has been butchered and the story as published by The Chronicle Newspaper is untrue and should be disregarded.”

“In this regard, the GAF is calling on The Chronicle Newspaper to offer proof of the allegations and notify any military installation of the civil police for necessary action.”

The paper said there was a clash between three military personnel from the Takoradi Airforce Command and suspected Indian hemp smokers at Asakai, a suburb of Takoradi,  which resulted in the death.

The deceased reportedly died from cutlass wounds inflicted on him, according to The Chronicle report.
