Robbers attack Asokwa Municipal Assembly, steal tricycle, GHc6

Four masked men invaded the offices of the Asokwa Municipal Assembly in the Ashanti Region and took away a tricycle used for the collection of waste.

The four armed men who carried out the operation around 2 am on Sunday threatened the security guards on duty and insisted that they open the office of the Municipal Chief Executive and hand over monies available to them.

According to the Municipal Coordinating Director for the Assembly, Charles Oteng, when the men were told there was no money in the office by security guards, he said the attackers decided that they were “going to take away our tricycle and sell.”

The guards, who refused to yield to the demands were forcefully asked to board the tricycle the robbers took away from the premises.

The robbers later dumped the guards at about 200 meters away from the Assembly office and bolted with the tricycle.

The robbers also made away with an amount of GHc 6 they took from one of the guards.

Mr. Oteng also told Citi News police have begun investigations into the incident.

“We called the police commander this morning and she came. They have done some fresh investigations and tomorrow we are going to call some people and continue with the investigations.”

Indications are that nobody was hurt in the attack and aside from the broken gate, no other property was damaged, according to Mr. Oteng.
