Techiman: MTN supports 2019 Apo festival 

Telecommunication giant, MTN Ghana has pledged its support to the Techiman Traditional Council ahead of the commemoration of the 2019 Apo Festival.

MTN Ghana Executives led by Mr. Charles Osei Akoto, Commercial Manager for Northern Sector of the company made a donation of GHc5,000, Schnapps and assorted drinks and airtime worth GHc500 towards the festival celebration.

Mr. Osei Akoto stressed that the Telecommunication Company deems it necessary and appropriate to support the Traditional Authorities because the festival brings unity and development.

He stated that MTN Ghana has embarked on a lot of development projects nationwide and a lot will follow suit through the MTN Ghana Foundation.

Mr. Akoto also urged Ghanaians to be concerned about the nation’s development.

“Anything that brings unity and development, we deem it appropriate to come and support. We have so far initiated 142 projects nationwide. Adinkra CHPS Compound, Techimantia ICT Centre, MTN has a foundation where we contribute 1% of our revenue into the foundation to initiate projects,” Mr. Akoto revealed.

Gyaasehene of Techiman Traditional Council, Nana Korsah Kore Topia II who received the donation on behalf of the Omanhene of Techiman Traditional Area, Oseadeyo Akumfi Ameyaw IV, appreciated the efforts of MTN Ghana.

He stated that consistently MTN Ghana has been helpful whenever the Traditional authority prepares to celebrate the Apo festival.

Nana Korsah also called on MTN Ghana to leave an indelible mark within the area by building a hospital or a school block at some of the remote areas as they have done in other places outside the Techiman Traditional Area.

Activities for this year’s Apo Festival started on the 2nd of March and will be climaxed on March 31, 2019 of which the grand durbar is scheduled to take place on Friday, March 22, 2019, in Techiman.

The 2019 edition of the festival is under the theme: “Celebrating 15 Years of Kingship: Managing Tradition and Modernity in the Major Cross Road of Commerce and Diverse Cultures in Peace and Development.”
