Sports Minister commends medal winners in Commonwealth Games - www.asempanews.com

Minister for Youth and Sports Honourable Mustapha Ussif has congratulated the Ghanaian athletes and boxers who have won various medals in the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

“Congratulations to the our compatriots for winning laurels for the nation at the Commonwealth Games” the Minister posted at his Facebook handler.

The 2022 Commonwealth Games will probably go down memory lane as one of the successful competitions for Ghana.

The last time Ghana won gold medal in Commonwealth Games was 1998 in Kuala Lumpur – Malaysia courtesy Raymond Narh in boxing.

Ghana Olympic Committee Chairman Ben Nunoo Mensah and the entire Ghana Boxing Authority Executives in Birmingham were sure the boxers who represented Ghana in the 2022 Commonwealth Games could win gold medals this time round.

But in the end Abraham Mensah won Silver Medal in the Bantamweight division while Joseph Commey also won Silver at the Featherweight division
