Pratt exposes attempt to sneak ‘alien names’ into organisers of ‘Kumi Preko’ Demo

The Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jr has exposed attempts by some politicians and activists to sneak alien names into the organization of the famous ‘Kumi Preko’ demonstration.

The mammoth demonstration that was held in 1995 over untold hardship on Ghanaians was spearheaded by notable activists including Egyir Blankson, Kwesi Pratt Jr, President Nana Akufo Addo, Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe, Victor Newman, Charles Wireko Brobbey, Kweku Baako.

“Egyir Blankson who brought up the concept at Akufo Addo’s birthday party has unfortunately not been given enough credits for the Kumi Preko demonstration. But I see some alien names being introduced as being actively involved in the organization of the famous protest,” Kwesi Pratt Jr said on Good Morning Ghana on Wednesday.

His remarks follow attempts by the police to block an impending demonstration slated for May 9, 2021.

In his estimation, the reasons for which he and a group of activists including President Akufo-Addo, embarked on the ‘Kumi Preko’ demonstration are the same as the ones outlined by organisers of #FixGhana.

Mr Pratt however, indicated that the organisers of the #FixTheCountry Demo are inexperienced.

“Though they have the right to protest. It appears, they anticipated that the police would block them over COVID -Protocols. So, they were making submissions on how protestors will be converging in front of the President’s office, but will be arriving in private vehicles and on bicycles.

“The routes they marked for demonstration are scattered and had no direction. So, though they have valid concerns. Their inexperience is what will wok against them,” The veteran journalist observed.

He was however, quick to warn the Police that, the more they blocked such demonstrations, the larger the #FixTheCountry protest will get.
