Business Tracker Survey on impact of COVID-19 on businesses starts tomorrow

The Ghana Statistical Service will from tomorrow begins a Business Tracker Survey aimed at tracking the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on business in Ghana.

This will be done in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme.

The survey will begin from 25 May and end on 20 June 2020.

The survey which involves the use of telephone interview for data collection will identify ad measure the impact of the coronavirus disease on small, medium and large scale establishment operating in Ghana.

The survey will also assess measures put in place by businesses to mitigate the impacts of COVID-19 as well as efforts to build better recovery for businesses.

The results of the survey will enable government and development partners come out with measures to alleviate the impact of the disease on businesses.

The GSS thus assures business owners that information provided will not be disclosed to anyone or entity in any form.

And the data collection does not require payment of money, with the Service urging businesses not to pay money to any person.

Commenting, Government Statistician, Samuel Kobina Anim, said the results from the survey will inform policy directions in protecting jobs and safeguarding progress of the Sustainable Development Goals. The findings will also provide insights into keeping the promises of the Africa n Continental Free Trade Area alive as a tool to handle future pandemics and protect jobs/businesses.
