Build your own University and name it after Gyankroma – Adu Asare jabs Akufo-Addo

Kojo Adu Asare former MP of Adentan constituency has descended heavily on Nana Akufo-Addo over what he described as a clear attempt by the President to name Mahama infrastructure after politicians from the Busia-Dombo-Danquah tradition.

Speaking on Pan African TV’s Alhaji and Alhaji, a Political Show on Saturday he slammed Akufo-Addo for attempts to naming two campuses of University of Development Studies, USD in the Upper West and Upper East regions after Simon Diedong Dombo and CK Tendam.

“I am baffled by how Akufo-Addo has gone on rampage to name universities built by others after historical politicians from the Dombo-Danquah tradition.

“Rawlings built some universities, Atta Mills, John Mahama also built universities. So build yours and name it after your daughter Gyankromah and stopping naming institutions established by others,” he fumed.

He heavily condemned the award of contract to David Adjaye redesign Okyenhene’s palace and 11 other state infrastructures; the National Cathedral, New Parliamentary Chamber, Marine Drive Master Planning, International Cancer Centre for Children, Trade Fair Centre Redesigning, GNPC Accra Head Office, GNPC Takoradi Office Complex, New Office Complex for the Bank of Ghana (Cedi House 2), Airport City 2 Design, Okyehene Palace Design, New Railway Terminal Design, and Redevelopment and Expansion of Ghana Embassy in the US.

In his estimation, the redesign of the Okyenhene palace in particular is a non-starter and totally out of place.

“What has the taxpayer got to do with Okyenhene palace? Why should the citizen’s sweat be channeled into the redesign of Okyenhene because he is an Akyim? Because the President is an Akyim, must we all become Akyims?,” he averred.

He also condemned the fact that such a huge project was given to a foreigner when there are equally competent contractors in the country who could have been considered for these projects.
