I’ll change false narrative about Islam – Chief Imam

The National Chief Imam Sheikh Dr. Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu has said he’s on a relentless campaign to change the false perception about Islam being a violent religion.

According to him, it is important to let the world know that Islam has always been a peaceful and tolerant religion.

The revered Isam Cleric on Easter Sunday made a rare move as he joined members of the Christ the King Catholic Church in Accra to worship ahead of his 100thbirthday.

His visit drew pleasant comments from many people especially on social media who thought the Chief Imam had shown the way in ensuring religious co-existence and tolerance.

Speaking to sit-in-host Akwasi Nsiah on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa FMTuesday, Sheik Shuaib Aremeyaw, Spokesperson of the Chief Imam, stated that the latter wants a new image carved for Islam and will stop at nothing to ensure that.

“We want to change the narrative about Islam in a very radical manner. The long perceived thought about Islam being a violent religion is never true. They believe that Prophet Mohammed’s life on earth was characterized by violence and warmongering is not false. The Chief Imam by his peaceful nature is following the footsteps of Prophet Mohammed who was a peaceful man, that aspect of the Prophet’s life is not pronounced and known to many people. Islam does not support wickedness and intolerance, the Chief Imam wants Muslims in Ghana to chart a new path and carve a new and positive image for Islam.”
