Police Arrest 6 For Staging Kidnap Of Legon PRESEC Student

The Ghana Police Service has apprehended six individuals suspected of orchestrating the staged kidnapping of a student from Presbyterian Boys Senior High School, also known as Legon PRESEC, a prestigious second cycle educational institution.

A press statement from the police on Friday, April 5, 2024, made known that  preliminary investigations revealed that one of the juveniles, in an attempt to extort money from his parents to enable him to travel abroad, conspired with the others to stage the kidnapping incident.

“In the process, they demanded an amount of Three Hundred and Forty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH₵ 340,000.00) as ransom from the alleged victim’s parents.

“The investigation further disclosed that the juveniles, together with the two others, succeeded in collecting Twenty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH₵20,000.00) of the total ransom demanded,” the statement read

This comes days after reports went viral about the kidnapping of a PRESEC student on his way home from school

The reports indicated that the alleged kidnappers were demanding a ransom from the student’s family
