Akufo-Addo sacks GRA boss, dissolves board

Amishaddai Owusu-Amoah, the Commissioner General of GRA, has been replaced by Miss Julie Essiam, former Commissioner for the Support Services Division, while Miss Pearl Darko will assume the role of Commissioner for the Support Services Division

Additionally, senior New Patriotic Party (NPP) member of Parliament is set to chair the new board of directors, with changes expected in key positions such as the Commissioner of Customs Division and Commissioner of Domestic Tax and Revenue Division.

Established in 2009, GRA combines the Customs, Excise and Preventive Service, Internal Revenue Service, and Value Added Tax Service, aiming to ensure tax law compliance, sustainable revenue streams, trade facilitation, and secure border goods flow

Administering international agreements like World Customs Organisation Protocols and Double Taxation Agreements, GRA operates through two divisions: Domestic Tax Revenue and Customs, supported by Support Services Division and the Commissioner General’s Secretariat.
