Implementation of Textiles Tax Stamp can be a game changer

The fabric manufacturers and VLISCO distributors in Ghana has said that piracy posed a significant problem for the textile sector.

Emmanuel Kissi Debrah, The Sales Director of TSG, claimed that if the task force was used to monitor importers compliance, the introduction of the Textiles Tax Stamps may completely alter the industry.

Debrah, the tax stamp will be implemented officially in March 2023 with different colours which will indicate and differentiate between textiles which are produced in Ghana or imported.

‘’Customers are joined to protect the local textile industry by ensuring that all product have the tax stamps and are original, authentic and genuine, apart from that, customers must also look at the batch number on the fabric which should match with that on the salvage’’, he stated.

In a meeting which was held with the media on the 1st December, 2022, the discussion about fashion gave the media an inside look at TSG’s operations as well as innovation that WOODIN, which is a leading textile retailer with 22 stores throughout the continent, is pursuing.

Georgina Mensah, the Head of Marketing at WOODIN said that the company caters to a youthful and energetic generation which has over the years collaborated with local designers to develop and promote interesting campaigns for both domestic and foreign markets

She stated that, ‘’WOODIN is also keen on improving entrepreneurial spirit of young which is why the brand is collaborating with Shoe Fabrick, a local footwear manufacturing company in the Eastern Region of Ghana’’.
