Gabrielle ‘Sarfoa’ Union shares the importance of her family trip to Ghana on The View

Gabrielle Union talked about her big family Thanksgiving, details of her family trip to Ghana and speaks out on why she continues to be a truth teller in Hollywood on ABC’s The View.

Asked why she visited Ghana she replied “There is something about going to West Africa as African- Americans who have been discounted from the continent

And going back and learning truly about our history and the expansiveness of our history…  but learning the history from the lion’s perspective and not from the hunter… the accurate history and being able to reclaim your roots

She also talked about her Ghanaian name, Sarfoa and explained it means ‘the key’.
