Prosecute corrupt officials - Clergyman to Akufo-Addo

Chairperson of the Asante Akyem Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana in the Ashanti region, Rev Dr Anokye Nkansah has urged President Nana Akufo-Addo to be up and doing in the prosecution of corruption cases in Ghana.

Speaking at the 80th anniversary of Apostle Calvary Congregation, Hwidiem, Rev Dr Nkansah stated that it was important for the various institutions to be independent in discharging their duties to help fight corruption effectively.

“Ghana is a blessed country with a lot of natural resources but we don’t know how to use our resources. We always have cases of funds misappropriation but sweep these corruption cases under the carpet which is not deterrent enough,” he stated.

Rev Nkansah also urged Ghanaians to develop positive attitudes towards work and be God fearing which is an essential tool in the fight against corruption.

“We can effectively fight corruption when we have men and women who have the fear of God in their hearts,” he said.

Minister-in-charge of Calvary Congregation, Hwidiem, Asante Akyem Rev. Seth Oteng Ofori also urged women to be vigilant and stop paying money to pastors for prayers and as consultation fee.

“Women should invest such monies they give to pastors in their wards education rather than wasting them on modern pastors,” he admonished.
