There's insincerity in Akufo-Addo's calls to disband vigilante groups – Asiedu Nketia

General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC),
Johnson Asiedu Nketia has accused the President of insincerity in his call to disband vigilante groups in the country.

According to Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the NDC is ever ready to hold fruitful talks over the matter in a quest to nip the activities of militia groups in the bud.

“We in the NDC are ever ready to meet and talk about this menace to see the way forward and that is why we are calling for outsiders to also intervene,” he said on Okay FM monitored by Adomonline.com.

Mr Asiedu Nketia’s comment follows a letter by the NDC to the President, requesting for a third party like the National Peace Council and other civil society groups to mediate the dialogue between the parties.

General Mosquito as he is affectionately also said the NDC was willing to attend a bi-partisan meeting which will ostensibly seek to end political vigilantism in the country.

He said seeking for outside help does not in any way indicate a surrender of our sovereignty as a nation or a show of lack of faith in the Ghanaian people but rather it is a responsible act of regional and international citizenship and transparency.
