Hearts of Oak coach admits scoring woes following fifth loss in six matches

Hearts of Oak’s assistant coach, Abdul Bashiru, has admitted the Phobians’ struggle to find the back of the net.

Bashiru was speaking after the club suffered their fifth loss in six matches in the Ghana Premier League, succumbing to a narrow 1-0 defeat against Accra Lions on Wednesday at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Despite creating ample opportunities throughout the match, Hearts of Oak failed to capitalise, ultimately falling short and fueling criticism towards the technical staff due to their precarious position near the bottom of the table—only four points above the drop zone.

Hearts of Oak have only scored in one of their last five league games.

Bashiru addressed these concerns, attributing the recent slump to difficulties in converting chances.

“Goal scoring is our main problem and it is something we have been facing.

We have to go back and do our correction,” he told StarTimes.

Expressing disappointment over the results, Bashiru called upon supporters to maintain faith in the team, stating, “We are not happy.

The fans should have confidence in us and back us.

We can go to Chelsea and give them the three points.”

Hearts of Oak prepare to square off against Berekum Chelsea in their subsequent fixture, with the beleaguered side aiming to regain momentum and revive their faltering campaign, targeting improved outcomes in the final stretch of the season, which features six remaining matches.
