Samartex extend lead at top, Medeama and Kotoko share spoils

Samartex continued their impressive run in the Ghana Premier League, securing a crucial 1-0 victory over Great Olympics on Saturday.

Striker Kwasi Ofosu proved to be the hero for Samartex, scoring the decisive goal in the 82nd minute.

The win further solidifies Samartex’s position at the summit of the league table, now boasting a seven-point lead.

Despite dominating proceedings at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena, Samartex struggled to break the deadlock until Ofosu’s late strike sealed the victory.

With this win, they are now in a confident position to pursue their first-ever league title.

In other league action, second-placed Nations FC stumbled as they dropped points against Bibiani Gold Stars, resulting in a missed opportunity to close the gap on Samartex.

Meanwhile, Aduana FC suffered a setback in their title aspirations with a surprising 2-1 home defeat to Karela United, marking their second consecutive loss and leaving them trailing by 10 points.

The weekend’s top clash between Medeama and Asante Kotoko ended in a 1-1 draw in Tarkwa.

Despite Kotoko taking the lead through Stephen Mukwala, Medeama fought back and secured the equalizer from a penalty converted by Diawisie Taylor.

Additionally, Bechem United showcased resilience as they held Heart of Lions to a 1-1 draw at the Nana Gyeabour Park, despite playing with 10 men for over 20 minutes.
