Dreams FC dismiss Juju rumours amid CAF Confederation Cup success

Dreams FC have categorically refuted allegations suggesting their remarkable advancement in the CAF Confederation Cup is due to the use of ‘black magic,’ commonly referred to as juju.

Dreams are currently preparing for the second leg of their semi-final clash against Zamalek in Kumasi, aiming to secure a spot in the final following a goalless draw in the first leg in Cairo.

Surprising many, including possibly themselves, Dreams FC have exceeded expectations in their debut season in the competition.

Displaying impressive football, they maintain an unbeaten record at home, boasting five wins and a draw.

With an opportunity to become the first Ghanaian side in nearly two decades to reach a CAF interclub competition final, Dreams FC face unwarranted speculation regarding the source of their success.

An Arab website, Btolat.com, cited a Ghanaian journalist insinuating the use of juju by Dreams FC players during matches but the club’s Vice President Prince Abdul-Hamid vehemently refuted claims of juju involvement.

‘We are Muslims, we are furthest from using black magic [juju],’ affirmed Abdul-Hamid.

If it will harm another person, it is prohibited, and this is what we believe in.’

‘Some Ghanaian journalists are trying to tarnish the reputation of this club, which has achieved great results in a short period; we were founded only 14 years ago,’ Abdul-Hamid added.

‘We believe in God, and if we qualified for the semi-final to face Zamalek, then it is certainly by His grace,’ he concluded.”

Dreams FC will need to be at their peak performance to on Sunday overcome Zamalek, who demonstrated dominance in the first leg, creating numerous scoring opportunities.

With over 20 goal attempts, Zamalek kept Dreams FC goalkeeper Solomon Agbasi busy, forcing him to make six saves as the reigning Ghanaian FA Cup champions narrowly avoided defeat.

The match will take place at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
