Deputy Majority Leader urges KMA to enforce its by-laws on trading at unapproved places

Deputy Majority Leader, Patricia Appiagyei, has described as indiscipline the creation of congestion in the Central Business District (CBD) of Adum in Kumasi.

She observed that the fear of losing elections is preventing Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) authorities from enforcing by-laws to clear the CBD of traders doing business at an unauthorised places.

Speaking on GhanAkoma with Kofi Asante, Mrs Patricia Appiagyei, who doubles as Member of Parliament for Asokwa, appealed to the city authorities to be up and doing by enforcing the by-laws.

She expressed worry about the growing indiscipline by traders in the CBD of Adum.

Hawkers have invaded the pavements in the area with their goods blocking the streets and impeding human and vehicular traffic.

The Deputy Majority Leader expressed shock at the poor management of the city and said something should be done about it.

She berated officials of the KMA for the increasing number of illegal structures, largely metal containers taking over public spaces and streets in the city.

“We have no option than to decongest the city to ensure free flow of traffic.

The congestion in the Central Business District is unbearable.

The lawlessness and indiscipline are too much in the city at the moment”, she lamented.
